BANDS
John Henry & the RainmakersComing back for another year as our host band is John Henry & the Rainmakers. They're a favorite of ours and are soon releasing their first ever album! If you've heard them before at previous Big Dam Blues Jams or any of their gigs around central Ohio, you already know what a powerhouse they are. If not, prepare to be blown away Saturday night.

Brenny's BanditsA recent bandleader-turned-dancer, Joe “Brenny” Brenneman started playing clarinet and saxophone professionally in central Ohio in 2008. He was bitten by the dancing bug in January 2017 and has been traveling and taking lessons ever since. His bandits are the result of these two passions combining- a loose group of instrumentalists brought together with the intent of preserving and exploring the roots of blues and jazz.

DJs
Please help us welcome the baddest Blues DJs around!
Lauren Booker
Grand Rapids, MI One of Grand Rapids Blues long-time darlings, Lauren Boker from Holland, Michigan brings a big, sultry sound to every set. She’s pleased to follow or lead for blues, loves Bal, and is often off in her own nook dancing solo. Her favorite dances are easy on the knees and full of mischief, just like her.
Lauren has been affectionately dubbed DJ B’s Knees in her home scene, and she’ll keep you up late and make you shake! |
Kenneth Shipp
St. Louis, MO Kenneth has been spinning tunes for well over a decade, creating breakdance mixes from his dad's vinyl collection to DJing hip hop / break competitions in college. After falling in love with blues in 2014, he’s spent the past few years learning and diving into the wide variety of blues styles and history.
Kenneth aims to get you grooving and moving every time you step out onto the dance floor. He loves playing with your faves while also showcasing the soul/blues legends from his hometown of Nashville and his new home of St. Louis. |
Martial Vesely
Dayton, OH Martial Vesely is returning to Ohio from Washington DC, where he's been DJing for the last year and a half. He's been bringing his love of brassy horns and tinkering piano around the country since 2012. Expect a delirious blend of melty, bluesy goodness, with a hint of jazzy New Orleans styling for garnish.

Brittney McLaughlin
Pittsburgh, PA Brittany Dael McLaughlin loves learning about what makes blues blues, and playing music across blues genres. She plays funky, sassy, sultry blues that makes you feel things. She bets you'd be good at DJ'ing, and would be psyched to talk to you about fun ways to learn to DJ.
